Boudoir Collection Pleated Bra Review.

Not all of my lingerie collection comes from luxury labels such as Fleur of England, or even high end high street brands like Bluebella and Hunkemöller. In my What’s New in my Lingerie Drawer – February post I introduced this beautiful UK supermarket brand bra from Sainsbury’s Boudoir Collection, priced at only £17.00. The website describes its range as affordable luxury, and this bra comes with such an amount of stunning details, it truly doesn’t have to hide behind its high street cousins.

This is the second piece I bought from the Boudoir Collection. I wasn’t even browsing for new lingerie, but the pleating detail simply caught my eye when I walked past.

This beautiful demi bra comes with partially adjustable straps, a racer back, underwiring, an inner quarter-cup lining similar to Victoria’s Secret Wicked range, and a double hook-and-eye closure at the back.

Two details stand out in particular when first looking at this bra: the absolutely stunning pleating on the cups, and the lace-detail racer back.

The cups are wired, and made from three layers of sheer mesh: the outermost black, pleated layer, a nude inner lining, and a further quarter cup lining, which provides support and lift, as there are no further seams or padding.

The front part of the band is black eyelash lace on top of nude mesh, the back part of the band is sheer, black mesh.

The upper parts of the racer back straps are adjustable, the lower parts aren’t. The lower cross of the racer back features another eyelash lace panel instead. The particular shape of the racer back provides further structure and support for the bust, and makes wearing this bra extremely comfortable, despite its lack of traditional support.

This bra is one of the most romantic pieces in my collection, the nude mesh underneath the black pleats gives the bra a very soft, sheer, and delicate appearance, despite its structural rigidity, which is further underlined by the eyelash lace and a velvet bow at the apex. The set is completed by matching vintage-style briefs.

So, if you are looking for a delicate, vintage-inspired, detail-rich addition to your lingerie collection, look no further! Lingerie luxury definitely doesn’t have to be expensive, or exclusive.
