Recently, my lingerie collection has literally spilled out of its drawer, and migrated into my wardrobe, where all the bras are now hanging on gold clip hangers, sorted by colour, and then brand. Browsing through them and consciously selecting one for the day is a rather lovely little ritual for the mornings, and I find that lingerie can very much set the mood for the day; cut, colour, and fabric do influence not only how I feel wearing other garments, but also how I feel in my own skin.
One of the most worn bras in my collection, despite it being a rather recent addition, is this black Celeste Bra from Bluebella. It is a gorgeous, unlined demi-bra with fully adjustable straps, underwiring, and a double hook-and-eye fastening in the back.
First of all, the orchid embroidery on the cups is simply stunning, very elegant and sophisticated.
Then there is the band; instead of a traditional band, this bra has two elastics leading back to the double hook-and-eye closure, which makes it incredibly comfortable to wear. The fit is true to size and nothing digs in or pinches, despite the “lack” of a traditional band.
The demi cups are wired but completely unlined, with a single vertical seam for support and lift. They give the bust a lovely shape, and the absence of lining makes the embroidery stand out even more.
Wearing this bra makes me feel as elegant and sophisticated as its delicate embroidery, and the black sheerness adds that little extra bit of oomph and glamour.
If you wish to complete the set, the Celeste bra does come with a matching thong. And if black isn’t your colour, it also comes in Fandango pink (though I believe the matching thong has sold out by now).
